Hello, this week’s post is a little different because I want to share with you a quote by Arthur Ashe that motivates and keeps me going and it goes like this:

“You’ve got to get to the stage in life where going for it is more important than winning or losing.”

I believe this is a powerful quote which ultimately wants all of us to understand that it’s not about winning or losing it’s about having the courage of going for what you want. Often times we are afraid of going for what we want because we think we will fail. But that is what life is about: winning and losing. When we lose, we get a chance to redirect our focus. We are able to learn from our mistakes and start over. Fear should not be an obstacle that holds you back from fulfilling your dreams. Nothing in life is certain, except death, and we have the power to reach our dreams and make things happen. If you are stuck in a dead end job which you hate, have the courage of going for what really makes you happy. You are in charge of your destiny. Make the change and notice how life gets better. Don’t be afraid of what people may say. You are the director of your life, you make the shots.

Business Development Is Not Sales
Business development helps identify and create partnerships that enable leverage for driving revenue, distribution or that enhance your product. Sales is focused on driving revenue.

Listen To Advice
This will give you an idea of what other entrepreneurs went through so you won’t make the same mistakes. Ask around. Investigate.

Try New Things
Trying new things is valuable. For example, if you don’t use social media give it a try. Start off with Twitter and gradually switch tactics once you are more comfortable. Twitter allows you to contact your potential new clients directly. Simple tweaks in your business development plan can go a long way.

Monitor Progress
Follow up with the strategies that work. This is important because it allows you to see what you are doing right and what you are doing wrong. If something is not working drop it. There is no need to keep doing something that is not yielding the results you want. It will save you time and energy.

And last but not least: Be Patient!!
Success takes time. It often takes a while for the true benefits of a change to become apparent.
